Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary relies totally on your generous support, whether it is by Donation, Volunteering, Adopt a Donkey scheme or leaving a Legacy.
Every penny we receive through providing services at Events, or your generous donations are very precious to us and we are determined to use the money to give these lovely creatures in our care the very best life we can. Thank you very

Adopt a donkey
For yourself, as a gift for a friend or in memory of a loved one.
For just £30 a year you can have your own special friend and help the sanctuary provide a life long home for the donkeys in their care.
You will receive an adoption pack complete with a personalised certificate, photograph and write up about your chosen donkey. Along with a warm glow of satisfaction knowing you have helped you will also have the opportunity to see them on one of our open days.
If you would like to adopt this donkey as a gift for someone else, kindly enter their name along with the date you want it to start in the “Additional Notes” section of the checkout page.
Buy a Bale of Hay
There are so many ways for people to be involved in helping us care for the donkeys at the sanctuary, visiting us on open days, volunteering, fundraising etc. One very tangible simple way is by buying them bales of hay. The donkeys are trickle feeders and are hardwired to look for food all day long, they have a particularly strong stomach acid along with it being being only half lined, this means they need to have a constant throughput of forage material to prevent ulcers and of course keep them healthy. They need high fibre foods and happily chew on tree bark, prickly plants and bushes but to supplement that we feed them straw and hay.
We have an arrangement with our local Stoke Fruit Farm who have a donkey hay button on their shop tills, as they are unable to take payments over the phone please DO NOT phone them. Instead please purchase the bales of hay right here by clicking on the button below. The bales are then sent to the donkeys which is a bit easier (and cleaner) than squeezing them in your car!

The Sanctuary relies entirely on support from the community and deeply appreciates any financial support you can give either as an individual or a company.
Project sponsorship is often available giving you the opportunity to make a real difference to the sanctuary’s infrastructure that would normally take many years to save for. projects recently made possible include: Visitor Centre Log Cabin, Poppy’s Cabin providing visitors with an indoor seating area, Donkey Field Shelters, Concrete Pathways, Electric Supply, Sewer Connection to name but a few.
